To landeth safely upon diminutive points, leapeth lively and presseth the triggering device with the round geometrical object emblazoned upon it.
― Instructions from the Thievius Raccoonus[src]

The Ninja Spire Jump is a move that exists in the Thievius Raccoonus and is used often by many members of the Cooper Clan. According to Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Rioichi Cooper developed the move to help him get over tall palace walls in feudal Japan. However, in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, many ancestors, including those born before Rioichi, could perform the jump. Bob Cooper cannot perform this move due to his large size.

It should be noted that in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, inside the Cooper Vault, it stated that Rioichi "perfected" the technique, not that he invented it.

Rioichi Cooper also invented a variation on the jump called the Leaping Dragon technique. It allows Rioichi to launch himself great distances from a point, landing on other points, grabbing ropes and landing on rails or ledges to move across. The Leaping Dragon was not described in the Thievius Raccoonus, however.

Usage[]

The Ninja Spire Jump is performed by pressing circle while in the air above a small point. The character will then land on the point and balance. It is then possible to leap from the point. The move is used throughout all four games. Sly learned it after stealing back Rioichi's section of the Thievius Raccoonus from Raleigh. Rioichi put challenges relating to the move in the Cooper Vault.
