Waypoints (also occasionally called god-rods) are sub-job beacons that appear in missions. They were introduced in Sly 2: Band of Thieves and appear in the two subsequent games, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
They point the current character in the direction of important job-specific items, such as locations, keys, levers or other significant details. Players can access them by clicking , then they will show up temporarily. To view them infinitely, click to open the binocucom. They will automatically tower over rooftops and any other high structures that block your view.
Depending on which character is currently used, the waypoint will be shown in the signature color of that character. Each waypoint features a small circle at the top with an even smaller circle in the middle. There are other waypoint variations, one being the job beacons, which shows the location and title of a job, along with the character's logo at the top. Job beacons are also displayed in the signature color of the current character. The other variation is the safe house waypoint, which are always displayed in yellow and features the safe house symbol at the top.
- In Thieves in Time, there is no need to wait for waypoints to disappear. Pressing again will make them disappear.
