I think that due to what we've seen in cutscenes and trailers, that Carmelita won't be introduced into the story, gameplay wise, until after Japan. There's a piece in a trailer showing the gang with an angry Carmelita shooting at Sly in the desert. Since the Wild West is the second mission, I'm assuming this is where we find her. I'm going to make a theory I think could be very likely judging on the way that Sanzaru tries to base missions around the culture of the time periods. I think that one of the missions in the Wild West is going to be you rescuing Carmelita from some sort of danger, maybe along the lines of her being tied to railroad tracks? I think that it's cliche enough to work into a Wild West theme, and would make a lot of sense. You could have Sly and Tennessee Kid sliding down the tracks to get to her quickly, or maybe this will utilize Tennessee Kid's signature move, most likely a variation of the rail slide.
I'd just like to see what you guys think of this theory. To me. it seems like it fits in with the level structuring and plot progression.
It's a very funny, tongue-in-cheek approach to her fully-fledged soiree into the franchise, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the way they headed. That being said, I doubt the gang (and Tennessee) will just happen upon her in the desert, tied to some rails. I think it would go more along the lines of: Meeting, initial antagonism (maybe even a job, perhaps a classic, flee Carmelita mission), acceptance, and then Carmelita is captured and placed into the damsel-in-distress predicament by the episode's villain, who beforehand had not been mentioned or largely spoken of.
On another note, I hope to see more female characters in this game's cast. All of the Sly games (save for the 2nd) have been short on female talent, and it makes the story feel too gung-ho and zealous in parts. So far we know of Carmelita and Ms. Decibel to be present in this game, and maybe Penelope. For male characters, there are atleast thrice as many (if the cast remains as it is). So, I hope to see a few more females this time around.
