Obscure the vision of your enemies for a hasty getaway.
— In-game description[src]

The Smoke Bomb is a purchasable power-up used by Sly Cooper in Sly 2: Band of Thieves, Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. It is used to obscure the vision of his enemies in order to easily escape. It uses a small to medium amount of the Gadget Meter, except in Thieves in Time, where the gadget meter is automatically recharged.

Smoke BombEdit

To activate the gadget, he stops and taps the end of his cane into the ground, creating a cloud of smoke. In Honor Among Thieves and Thieves in Time, the gadget is upgraded so that he can simply throw the Smoke Bomb into the ground while still in motion. In Thieves in Time, it is performed by pressing L1Button.

In the "Cops and Robbers" mini-game in Sly 3, the Smoke Bomb is one of four power-ups that Sly can use against Carmelita. It covers a larger range than the usual version and will cause Carmelita to momentarily stop pursuing Sly and cough if she is near the smoke.

Flash BombEdit

The Flash Bomb was an upgrade of the Smoke Bomb, available only in Thieves in Time. It had a larger area of effect, longer duration, and enemies who were blinded by it would not check Sly's last known position. If it was deployed very close to an enemy or breakable object, it would hit them, causing the equivalent of one cane-swing's worth of damage.

Trivia Edit

  • In Sly 2, using the smoke bomb will allow you to use your sneak attack on an enemy, even if they are facing you. In Sly 3, you have to knock them unconscious first.
