| ||This page is about the history of Shadow Power. For other uses, see Shadow Power (disambiguation).|
Shadow Power, also called invisibility, is a power-up that allows Sly Cooper to disappear from the visibility of enemies. It was created by Sly's ancestor, Slytunkhamen Cooper and originally completely restricted movement, forcing the user to ride conveyor belts as a means of movement, or to just stand still while an enemy passed. It was later altered by Huckleberry Cooper to allow the user to move, albeit slowly, while invisible.
Invisibility was first obtained in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus by beating Mz. Ruby. Invisibility, now called Shadow Power, appeared in the two games following as a safe power-up in Sly 2: Band of Thieves, and a buyable power-up in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. In Sly 2, the only permutation of shadow power available was one equivalent to Huckleberry Cooper's alteration, in that it allowed Sly to slowly walk while using it. In Sly 3, however, it was possible to purchase another version of shadow power that allowed completely unrestricted movement, lending Sly the ability to run, jump and even pick pockets while invisible.
- While shadow power doesn't make a return in Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, early footage showed that Rioichi Cooper was able to briefly turn invisible while preparing to use his Leaping Dragon Technique. In the final release, however, this effect was removed.
