The Venice disguise is a power-up and disguise that Sly Cooper acquired in the job, "Guard Duty" in "An Opera of Fear" of Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. It was designed to fool any Venetian guards who patrol the streets.
It would not fool Carmelita Fox, and if used during the job "Octavio Snap," Don Octavio would see through it and also not be fooled.
Description[]
The disguise uses the top half of the attire of a Venetian Cane Corso guard, complete with a fancy purple and gold tailcoat, what appears to be a red cummerbund, and a bird mask.
Use[]
While in disguise, if you get within a Venetian guard's line of sight, you will be asked to stop and provide one of several specific passwords. When this happens, Bentley will feed you the code via radio; this will visually show up in a broadcast bubble along with a combination of four face button icons. The four-word code disappears a second or two after the complete code is revealed. You are then required to input the password within a few seconds. If it is entered flawlessly and quickly, the guard will recognize you as one of their own. If you press the wrong button at any point, or take too long to give the password, the guard will expose you as a fake and attack you, forcing Sly to revert to his default attire. If you are caught, you cannot attempt to fool any Venetian guards until you either take out all the guards that are attacking you, or until you lose them.
While in disguise, your physical actions are limited to walking and a very short jump.
Role[]
This disguise was used in two missions in "An Opera of Fear." It was first used in the mission "Guard Duty." Bentley needed to access Don Octavio's coffee houses to steal the blueprints to the main tar vacuum. Sly had to don the Venice disguise and use it to relieve the guards in front of each coffee house.
The disguise was used again during "Operation: Tar-Be Gone!." Sly had to use it to enter Octavio's opera house and sneak past the guards on the way down to the tar vacuum room. Sly ran into Octavio, who did not recognize him in the costume, and asked for a password. After giving him the correct password, Octavio saw him as one of his own and helped him get the door open. Once that was done, Sly took off his disguise and went down into the tar vacuum room to let Bentley in.

- In keeping with the opera theme, the pool of four words used in the Venetian passwords are all vocal ranges. The words are soprano (
), alto (
), tenor (
) and bass (). - While in disguise, Sly will talk to the guards in an Italian accent. The accent is so terrible that Bentley was amazed that Sly could fool any of the guards in the first place.
- Meanwhile in the Japanese versions however, the joke has been changed to instead have Bentley and Sly be more bewildered on the intelligence of the guards as opposed to usage of an accent.
- This is the only disguise in Sly 3 that is used in more than one mission.
