Penelope's RC car's Thief Meter

Radio-controlled (RC) cars are self-powered model cars or trucks that can be controlled from a distance using a specialized transmitter or remote. In the Sly Cooper series, they are used by the Cooper Gang to complete certain objectives during jobs or heists. Many types of RC cars are used, varying from a simple vehicle that can only drive, to being able to shoot, boost and ram other RC cars.

Use[]

Sly 2: Band of Thieves[]

The only time in Sly 2 where a RC car was used was during "RC Combat Club." Murray used a tank-like vehicle in a competition to defeat the opponent car and obtain the location of the Northern lights battery.[1]

As stated by Bentley, the turret can only be aimed while the car is stationary. The car also requires ammo for shooting, and that is the only function it serves as far as defense. The opponent car has the ability to shoot and trigger flames, which it will do if your close enough.

Murray's car has a total of six wheels, three on both sides. At the top of the vehicle, on the turret, is a red light that acts like a siren. Also, on the antenna is a tail resembling that of Sly Cooper.

Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves[]

Penelope's RC car served many roles in Sly 3. It was first used in China to split bamboo shoots, allowing Sly Cooper to reach a reformed Panda King.[2] She used it again to chase a fuse down a gunpowder line in order to save Murray from General Tsao's explosives.[3] Penelope also used it inside General Tsao's palace to destroy security nodes, that way she and Murray could gain access to Tsao's treasure. In Blood Bath Bay, it was used to retrieve pieces of a shattered Hover-Spectrometer. It was also seen as a threat to the pirates, since it is a form of technology.[4] She used it one last time on Kaine Island to destroy automated turrets so Sly could later retrieve his cane.[5]

Penelope's RC car originally started off with a turret and a flower on top of its antenna for decoration. It was later modified by Bentley. He removed the turret in order to place it onto his Grapple-Cam. On Kaine Island, Penelope added bumpers to both sides of her car in order to bump other cars off of the drone patrol pipe.

If the car is destroyed, Penelope will comment on how she has spare cars.

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time[]

Since Penelope disappeared before the events of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, (it is later revealed that she has betrayed the Cooper Gang and became the Black Knight) Bentley had to take up the responsibility of RC driver. He used his RC car in several situations, such as tailing El Jefe in "Tiger Tail" or traveling through vents in "Saloon Bug" and "All Rolled Up!."

Bentley's vehicle is green and has a turret. It comes with the ability to equip disguises, such as a chicken, to trick guards into ignoring it, and also the ability to boost forward. When traveling through vent shafts, the car is very sensitive to certain hazards such as the blowing fans, which will completely destroy the car in one hit. Unlike the previous cars, Bentley's car is capable of smashing through breakables blocking the path and also run over tiny insects like rats and scorpions.
